Love Takes Courage, Strength...Everything

It is the movie any self-respecting Madonna fan is anticipating the most this fall, critical beatings be darned.

It’s W.E., and here’s its trailer.

Looks stunning, huh.

I cannot wait to see this one, and get the Queen of Pop’s take on the life-changing romance between Britain’s King Edward VIII (James D’Arcy) and American divorcée Wallis Simpson (up-and-comer Andrea Riseborough).

A Royal Reason to Head to Indianapolis

Looks like the Queen of Pop might be headed to the Super Bowl next winter.

Madonna’s rumored to be thisclose to finally signing on to headline the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI (after arrested developments in 1998 and 2000), which, of course, is making me want to book a ticket for Indianapolis, where the big game will take place on Feb. 5, ASAP.

I thought Kid Rock was going to be it, for whatever reason (must’ve read or heard it somewhere).

This is what I call a touchdown.

Bella Regina!

Madonna
’s W.E. may have gotten a bit of a critical beating at the Venice Film Festival, but her style...her style got high marks.

You gotta admit, she looks good for 53, and super-cute in that Vionnet dress and those Miu Miu shades.

Now, about those cheeks....

Ciao, Venezia!

Madonna hit the Venice Film Festival today to present her latest directorial effort, the romantic drama W.E., looking safe, yet regal in black and white.

The Queen of Pop and her cast were on hand for a photo call, and will continue making the rounds at the festival tomorrow when the film has its premiere.

Here’s to hoping M ups the ante and really gives us a fashion moment to talk about, alright.

Update: Aw, look at her, giving props to ex-husbands Guy Ritchie and Sean Penn for inspiring and encouraging her in her directorial career.

Bow, Bee-yotches. Bow!

Well, if there ever was an occasion for a
Holiday” I’d say the time is right now, so let’s have us a Celebration in honor of the one and only Queen of Pop, Madonna.

Really, if you only have 4 Minutes” to honor her, then join me.

Like a Ray of Light,” she came into the world 53 years ago.

Seriously, right! (Yeah, I am so completely serious with where I am going with this one.)

When she first busted onto the music scene more than two decades ago, we believed it when she told Everybody,” in no uncertain words, that she would rule the world. You know, ’cause she...uh...actually said as much.

That’s the kind of attitude that made her a star.

Later, she drove her point across Deeper and Deeper when she reminded us that, indeed, her Music” makes the people come together. By then, we were Hung Up” on her, and there’s no denying it.

Dont Tell Me otherwise. You know she’s still Causing a Commotion.

It’s no Secret that I’m an M fan and then some. She’s the real thing...True Blue,” y’ know, and, baby, I love her.

So dont ask yourself Wheres the Party” because if youve got her in your life, then you know if you Express Yourself” the funsies will be there. Youll See.” That’s one of the many things the erstwhile Material Girl has taught us.

Another: to keep our eyebrows under control.

So today I say Happy Birthday, Madonna I’m forever Crazy for You.

Decemberist M

Harvey Weinstein is betting big on Madonna.

The Hollywood producer announced today that The Weinstein Company will release Ms W.E., which it acquired earlier this month, on Dec. 9 right smack in the middle of Oscar season.

The news comes as tremendous vote of confidence on the film, which follows the story of two romances, one being between Britain’s King Edward VIII (James D’Arcy) and American divorcée Wallis Simpson (up-and-comer Andrea Riseborough, pictured here with her director).

The film will open first in L.A. and New York and expand from there into mid-January.

The Return of the M

It’s the news Madonna fans around the world had been waiting for: The (reigning, undisputed) Queen of Pop will dance and sing, get up and do her thing soon.

M’s manager, Guy Oseary, took to his Twitter yesterday announced that Madonna will go into the recording studio next month and that she has a pretty good idea of who she will be working with on the new music, producers-wise.

So exciting!

First we get the news that her W.E. will get a splashy, Weinstein-backed release statside, and now this. It’s like...yay!

So there you have it. Break’s over, pop princesses and wannabes. The Queen is coming back.

W.E. for the U.S.

Good goin
’, Harvey.

It was announced yesterday that The Weinstein Company has acquired the domestic rights to W.E., Madonna’s second directorial effort, which Harvey Weinstein, ever the clever one, is calling her feature-length debut (because, clocking in at 81 minutes, M’s Filth and Wisdom is considered a short).

Co-written by the Queen of Pop and her Truth or Dare director Alek Keshishian, the decades-spanning film tells the love story of King Edward VIII (James D’Arcy) and American divorcée Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough). Abbie Cornish (Limitless) co-stars.

“Madonna has really come into her own as a filmmaker with W.E.,” Weinstein said “She’s taken one of the most famous romances of the 20th century and brought it to life in a smart, sexy, and thoroughly modern way. It’s a terrific addition to our U.S. release slate.

Well, if someone knows what they’re talking about when it comes to this, it’s Harvey Weinstein. Could one of his infamous (and effective) Oscar campaigns be possible for Madonna? Time will tell....
